At Day 5, DCWEEK is definitely in full swing—especially for District favorites, non-profit organizations. DC is a city that gives back, so it’s no surprise that non-profits are an integral part of the DCWEEK schedule. This weekend was filled with powerful, thought provoking seminars including “Bridging DC’s Digital Divide” to bring online access to disadvantaged communities in DC and “The Future of Outreach” to identify new trends in digital media that are relevant to non-profits.
But the powerful sessions didn’t end with this weekend. On Monday, 11/7 was the “Advanced Social Media for Non-Profits” , an all-volunteer project celebrating storytelling and design for good. Things will pick back up again with “How Technologies and Data Driven Insights are Transforming the Way we Give” tomorrow, 11/9, to help understand how both for- and no-profit organizations are adapting their business modles to reflect the new tech age.
And don’t forget the crowd-pleaser the “ProBono Consulting Lounge” this Friday, 11/11 from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The lounge is directed by the DCWEEK team in partnership with HandsOn Greater DC Cares. It’s powered by highly skilled volunteer consultants who specialize in technology, design, strategy, social media, communications, and other areas (You might be the perfect candidate!). Together they will help build the capacity of non-profit organizations throughout the DC region. Last year, 42 project matches were made between non-profits and volunteer consultants. Can’t wait to see this year’s number.
